The M 155 is a V8 gasoline engine from Mercedes-AMG . The supercharged engine was used from 2003 to 2010 in the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren .
The M 155 is geometrically based on the M 113 E 55 ML , but has been redesigned because of its extra power over the output engine. Like this, it has three valves per cylinder . The loader (which, by the way, manages up to 23,000 revolutions per minute) lies between the two cylinder banks of the V-engine. Also a charge air cooling is on board. Despite the enormous power, the weight of the engine is 230 kg.

In the standard variant of the "normal" SLR, the engine produces 460 kW / 626 hp at 6500 rpm. The torque here is 780 Nm and is available from 3250 to 5000 / min.
In the SLR 722 introduced in 2006 , the rated output was increased by 24 hp and the maximum torque by 40 Nm. Even more offers the SLR 722 GT: With a rated output of 680 hp and a maximum torque of 830 Nm, he is currently the peak performance of the M 155 dar.
