The Lada 110 or VAZ-2110 is a compact car built by Russian automaker AvtoVAZ since 1995. It also spawned two close derivatives: the Lada 111 estate and the Lada 112 hatchback. It was one of the first generation of Lada vehicles produced after the fall of communism, but before foreign investment and partnerships influenced the direction of AvtoVAZ.

History

The development stages of the 110 began in the early 1990s, with a prototype coupé called the Katran 1.6i produced that was first demonstrated at the AvtoVAZ Togliatti factory in 1991. A lack of financial investment stalled the project, but the design of the Katran prototype was revisited in around 1995, when work on the 110 series began, and clear similarities between the Katran's shape and the 110's overall design can be seen.

The 110 enjoyed moderate sales success in the domestic Russian market; although early models were hindered by a number of recurring reliability problems.

The 110 featured a 1.6 litre engine producing approximately 90 hp (67 kW). Production began with 8 valve, and subsequently, 16 valve motors. Overall, the car weighed around 1050 kilos (2315 lb). In early 2006, new taillights and a new dashboard were introduced.

The Lada 110, 111 and 112 were largely restyled in 2007 and relaunched as the Lada Priora.

Trim levels

There were three trim level: Standard, Normal, and Luxe.

The Standard of grade included watches, heated rear window, the electro-door locks, power door locks, power trunk lock, onboard control system, immobilizer, body-color bumpers, seat trims tweed and tapestries, the front head restraints. Norma; grade differs in having powered windows, exterior mirrors with antidazzle effect, velour seat and door upholstery, and rear head restraints. In the Luxe the owner also received heated front seats, trip computer, fog lights, electric and heated outside mirrors, velvet upholstery and doors, a trunk spoiler with brake lights, and tinted windows.

Complete set of versions with a 16-valve engine had some differences. Already had a complete set of Standard wheel caps, they were in a complete set Norma and by Luxe were alloy wheels wheels. There was a version with air conditioning.

The model has been a favorite target for tuning, as artisanal and professional, especially the version with the five-door hatchback body (Lada-112). Various firms from Tolyatti also designed and offered body kits: APAL company produces components for Lada BIS 110 and 111, as do Tornado, Katran, Grossmeyster; AKS company of Kurage, Autostyle company of Tomcat, Motorica company of Lada 110M (included in the official catalog of AvtoVAZ and was considered a restyled version), Pit-Stop company of Grand Rally and Rally Sport, Arsenal-Auto company of Sprint. The Super-Avto has developed a version with a motor of 1.8 liters of its own design and an elongated version of the sedan VAZ-21108 Premier included in the official catalogs of AvtoVAZ. The Motorica company has produced the sporting VAZ-21106 version with a 135 PS (99 kW) Opel engine, altered rear wings, and extended wheel arches. Enterprise, together with AvtoVAZ, built a Lada Consul in 1999-2006 years and also produced the four-wheel drive "Tarzan-2" version on the basis of the station wagon (Lada 111) with a raised body placed on a separate frame .

Ukrainian production

Since 2007, the 110 has been discontinued by Lada, however Bogdan continues to produce this car as the Bogdan 2110 for the Ukrainian market.

Racing

The Lada 110 was entered in the 2008 World Touring Car Championship season by the Russian Bears Motorsport team, with Viktor Shapovalov (#28) and Jaap van Lagen (#29) as the drivers.

Team LADA Sport commenced the 2009 World Touring Car Championship season with a trio of 110s for Jaap Van Lagen, Kirill Ladygin and Viktor Shapovalov. The team replaced the 110s with the Prioras during the course of the season.

The Lada Largus is a compact car built by the Russian manufacturer AvtoVAZ since 2012. It is essentially a rebadged version of the Renault-developed Dacia Logan MCV and is produced as a joint project with Renault and Nissan.

History

After the Lada Riva had been removed from production in December 2010, did not produce any inexpensive and roomy station wagon models. The present model line station wagons Lada Kalina and Lada Priora have a higher completion and much higher price.  The Largus is the first joint project between AvtoVAZ and Renault-Nissan (with an investment of $550 million). It is part of a larger common plan of the companies to produce five models in Russia, based on the B0 platform. The total production in 2012 is expected to reach 27,000 cars (mostly Largus).AvtoVAZ largus side view

The Largus is being produced in a full-cycle production unit. It is equipped with air conditioning, an anti-lock braking system, 2 frontal Airbag, 5 or 7 seats, bluetooth hands free and an MP3 player. It is available in two versions: as a passenger station wagon and as a high-capacity panel van. Both versions are available with either of the two petrol engine options: a 1.6-litre 8 valve 84hp or a 1.6-litre 16 valve, capable of producing 103 hp (77 kW). They are associated with a five-speed manual gearbox. The only significant changes from the original model are the grille, front bumper, lining the quarter panel and the headlights.

On 4 April 2012, AvtoVAZ launched Lada Largus production at a ceremony attended by Vladimir Putin. During his visit to Tolyatti, Putin toured the plant and signed the first Lada Largus. Sales were started on 16 July 2012. The panel van version went on sale in August 2012.
