History

While Fiat have established close ties with the motor industries ofthe Soviet Union, Poland and Yugoslavia, Renault has been helping Rumania to build up modern car production facilities. The Renault 12 four-door saloon and five-door station wagon are built and marketed as the Dacia 1300. The pushrod engine overhung in front, driving the front wheels with 4 speed, fully synchronized gearbox, independent front suspension by coil springs and wishbones and a rigid rear axle with coil springs, the weight distribution was 58.3% to front, and 41.7% at rear.
