The Cadillac STS is a luxury-class vehicle produced by Cadillac between fall 2004 and mid-2011.
History
The STS replaced in autumn 2004 the model Seville . The name originally stood for Seville Touring Sedan and Sport Touring Sedan . This followed the new Cadillac nomenclature, which provides only abbreviations as a model name. Like the first-generation CTS , GM built it on the sigma platform. Unlike the old Seville STS should act more sporty in its new form. With an overall length of 4985 mm, a wheelbase of 2957 mm and front/rear track of 1596/1581 mm, the STS is the largest saloon in the Cadillac portfolio.Technical features include a Keyless Access system with a push button start; Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC); and reconfigurable four-colour head-up Display (HUD) on the 4.6-litre V8; plus heated & ventilated seats and heated steering wheel.
In the US market, a new make of the STS cost $ 47,495. In the Chinese market a version of the STS was 100 mm longer wheelbase under the name Cadillac SLS.
The STS is offered with the 257 hp (189 kW) 3.6-litre V6 VVT or the 325 hp (239 kW) Northstar 4.6-litre V8. Both engines incorporate variable valve timing (VVT) and are mated to Cadillac’s widely acclaimed five-speed automatic transmissions. Four-cam variable valve timing gives the V6 engine increased efficiency, with benefits in fuel economy, reduced emissions and engine flexibility. the 3.6-litre V6’s peak torque is available across a broad operating range: from 1600 rpm to 5800 rpm.
The engines used for the STS initially a 4.6 -l Northstar V8 engine, which brought it to a maximum power of 239 kW (325 hp) and a 3.6 -liter V6 engine with 189 kW (257 hp ). In Europe, the STS represented the top model of Cadillac within the luxury class , while in the US, the role of the DTS was given.
The 4.6-litre Northstar engine delivers 0-62 mph acceleration in 6.2 seconds. With the V6 the STS achieves 0-62 mph in 7.4 seconds.
The STS-V , which has a 4.4-liter V8 engine with 345 kW (469 hp) of maximum power, was refilled shortly after its introduction.

the STS is highly specified as standard, with Tuscany full leather upholstery; eight-way power seat adjustments for the driver and front passenger including a memory package which provides presets for two drivers and automatically adjusts the outside rear-view mirrors; power tilt and telescoping steering wheel position; steering wheel controls for the sound system; and voice recognition. The STS also has a tyre pressure monitoring system, power boot release and rear parking assist, which includes a rear-view LED display and audible warning.
Premium quality materials are used throughout. The interior choices include aluminium trim on both console and instrument panel on the Elegance and two colour choices for wood trim as standard on the Sport Luxury. Dual-firmness leather seats are specially tanned for a softer feel. Natural grained surfaces on the doors and instrument panel the headliner and interior pillar trims, which are soft backed and covered with a Monaco woven fabric.
Additional refinements on the STS include the eucalyptus wood trim package, heated/ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, power lumbar adjustment on both front seats and a top-of-the-range infotainment system, with a 15-speaker Bose 5.1 Surround Sound system and an integrated six-disc CD/DVD changer, a 203 mm (eight inch) VGA quality touch screen, Bluetooth capability, advanced voice recognition and an advanced navigation system.
Integrated chassis control technologies combine performance with a comfortable ride and include two-mode Magnetic Ride Control with ‘Performance’ or ‘Touring’ selections as standard on the V8. The electronically controlled magnetic-fluid-based real time damping used on STS.The standard StabiliTrak stability control system increases driving safety in high-speed swerves or sudden avoidance manoeuvres. Adapted from the driving dynamics system in the Corvette, the system is highly responsive and can adjust braking at any of the four wheels to maintain vehicle control. StabiliTrak is fully integrated with the traction control and ABS systems.
In autumn 2007, a facelift was made on the STS for the 2008 model year , which included a modified grille, a new rear bumper and a revised interior, as well as new features (such as lane change assistant and a lane departure warning ); The 3.6-liter V6 engine now had a maximum output of 222 kW and direct injection .Formally, the facelift on the NYIAS 2007 was presented In addition, there was from October 2009 to the 2010 model year a new 3.6-liter V6 engine, which now made a maximum of 225 kW.
Beginning of May 2011 the last STS rolled off the line. In spring 2012, the XTS was presented, replacing both the STS and the DTS.
Features
Head-Up Display (HUD) and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
The head-up display (HUD) projects key driving information on to the windscreen. In addition to speedometer and turn signal indicators, the HUD shows audio system data, gear indication, and ACC settings in the driver’s natural line of sight.
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) combined with the head-up display, represents a crucial contribution to active safety. A radar sensor at the front of the Cadillac STS constantly monitors the traffic ahead. When the cruise control is engaged, the radar beam can detect when another vehicle is in the same lane and the car is automatically slowed down and maintains a gap pre-configured by the driver. If there is a stationary object ahead, the ACC system sounds an alarm and displays a warning signal for the driver in the windscreen HUD.

The third generation of the Escalade based on the GMT-900 chassis was unveiled in the spring of 2006. In the first months of sales, the vehicles were only available as 4WD variants, then as a 2WD variant. In contrast to the optical transformation between the first and the second generation of the Escalade, this generation largely fits in with the basic design of its predecessor. The new Escalade has all-new sheet metal with sleeker, cleaner styling and improved aerodynamics, yet it remains instantly identifiable. Larger, standard 18 x 8-inch machined aluminium wheels are tailored to fit the wheel openings more completely, creating a precise wheel-to-body relationship which appears to give Escalade a lowered stance. with improved aerodynamics. The windshield angle of 57 degrees flows into the roofline and improves aerodynamic performance to a 0.363 CD (coefficient of drag), helping improve fuel economy and reduce wind noise.
History
Since the vehicle has almost complete standard equipment, came over the years only minor improvements in the various model years, such as 2009 z. B. known from many Cadillac models "Magnetic Selective Ride Control" chassis.
Larger diameter seven-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels, with an aluminium finish as standard and chrome finish as an option, a single-piece window surround, and seven layers of chrome accents. Rear-end styling features an integrated trailer hitch cover.
The new interior styling fitted with premium materials not shared with any other GM full-size SUV. The cabin is even more spacious, with an instrument panel that is lower and moved forward in the vehicle and comes in two colours Ebony and Cashmere. Greater seat travel provides 1049 mm of legroom for front-seat passengers. Second-row seat legroom and knee room, and third-row seat headroom are also increased over the previous model. The second and third-row seats also have more shoulder room while also offering standard roof-mounted side curtain airbags. The new occupant protection features include full-length side curtain side air bags with rollover protection for all three seating rows and a 360-degree front safety belt pretensioner system. Sensors located at the front and rear of the vehicle, as well as the side doors, provide increased and immediate crash detection. The exclusive rear pretensioner sensors can trigger the front seat pretensioners during a rear-end collision, helping to prevent whiplash injuries.
Escalade’s instrumentation features gauges with white needles and blue light inlays with continuously lit, white-LED backlighting. Flush-mounted controls and radios with enhanced array of audio, infotainment and safety options also include an eight-inch touch-screen navigation system, as well as a DVD system with large eight-inch flip-down screen. A Bose 5.1 Digital Surround Sound system is integrated into the new radios that play DVD audio, DVD video, CD audio, CD videos and MP3s.

A more premium feel as well as durability for the leather-covered seats, door trim and centre console, and fabric-covered interior pillars.
The Platinum Edition includes LED headlamps, heated and cooled cup holders, reversing camera, superior leather interior, navigation system, DVD entertainment system and vented front seats.
Cargo room is increased by 118.9 litres behind the second-row seats (to 1708 litres) and by 65.1 litres behind the third row. The third-row seats fold flat and are tumbled forward or removed for maximum cargo carrying capacity.

As with its predecessor, the third generation has been available as a pickup variant EXT since spring 2007, as well as a long version ESV . This time around, the EXT has a 490 mm length and the ESV 520 mm more than the normal Escalade. The ESV is based on the Chevrolet Suburban / GMC Yukon XL, the EXT on the Chevrolet Avalanche. In Russia, the vehicle is sold under the name Cadillac DUU .

Engines
The third-generation Cadillac Escalade is powered by a 6.2-liter V8 engine ( 6.2L Vortex 6200 V8 ). Furthermore, since the summer of 2008 a 6.0-liter V8 engine ( 6.0L Vortec 6000 V8 ) is available as a full hybrid. The formal presentation took place at the South Florida International Auto Show 2007 in Miami. Pure electric driving is thus possible on short distances of up to 40 km / h.
The new 6.2-litre V8 exclusive to Escalade, which generates a maximum of 409 hp (301 kW) at 5,700 rpm and 565 Nm of torque at 4,400 rpm. With its cylinder heads and engine block now made from aluminium, the new V8 weighs less, gives improved weight distribution and fuel economy. The V8 engine uses variable valve timing (VVT), to optimize camshaft timing, improving low-rpm torque and high-rpm horsepower. The variable valve timing is operated through a dual-equal cam phaser which adjusts the camshaft timing at the same rate for both the intake and exhaust valves.
Transmission
The new Hydra-Matic 6L80 six-speed automatic transmission, featuring clutch-to-clutch shifting and six forward gear ratios. These ‘closer’ ratios bolster both the performance and the smoothness of the transmission. Driver Shift Control (tap up/tap down) capability allows the driver to manually select upshifts and downshifts with a button on the column shift – sequentially, one gear at a time.
Chassis
A new, fully boxed chassis frame offers a 49 percent increase in torsional stiffness and a 35 percent improvement in bending stiffness, for enhanced handling. In addition, all front and rear suspension attachment points are stiffened for improved suspension performance and reduced road input into the vehicle, to boost NVH. The front suspension consists of an all-new system with short and long arm wishbones and coil-over-shock absorbers, a refined five-link rear suspension. Front and rear stabilizer bars help body roll while wider front and rear tracks (up by 76.2 and 25.4 mm respectively), further enhance stability. The standard ‘Road Sensing System’ uses electronically controlled shock absorbers and special sensors to ‘read’ the road and anticipate the optimum damping rates.
Brakes
Upgraded disc brakes front and rear are standard, with a new Bosch 8.0 four-channel ABS anti-lock system. Larger vented front (330 mm) and rear (345 mm) brake discs, 50-percent stiffer dual-piston callipers, longer-life brake pads reduced brake noise and shorter stopping distances. The ABS system works with the standard StabiliTrak stability control system’s new rollover mitigation technology. This software technology uses sensors to proactively predict vehicle ‘tip-up’ and apply appropriate brake forces.

The second generation was released in January 2001 on the new GMT-800 chassis as a vehicle of model year 2002. By the sale of the first generation, the two generations were sold at the same time. Visually, this generation stands out clearly from its predecessor. From this model year, both a 2WD and a 4WD system was offered. Escalade's SUVs share a platform with GM's other full-size SUVs, including the GMC Yukon and Denali, but have more power and unique features.
In spring 2002, the Escalade EXT was introduced for the first time Cadillac's luxury SUV wagon gets an extended-length. The Escalade EXT, meanwhile, is a gilded version of the Chevrolet Avalanche crossover SUV/pickup truck. This pickup version has a vehicle cab for five people that can board through four doors. The 610 mm longer EXT version is based on the longer chassis of the Chevrolet Suburban / GMC Yukon XL. New for all three Escalades are standard power-adjustable gas and brake pedals and optional XM satellite radio.

From autumn 2002, the Escalade ESV was available. This long version of the vehicle also offered 610 mm more in length and more space for luggage or an extra row of seats. Like the EXT version, the ESV version is based on the longer chassis of the Chevrolet Suburban / GMC Yukon XL. The ESV adds 22 inches to the length of the regular-length Escalade, primarily as cargo space. Two 2nd-row buckets are standard on ESV and optional on the regular Escalade for 7-passenger capacity. Both seat up to eight when equipped with the 2nd-row bench seat.
As an engine, two engines were available. The 5.3-liter V8 engine ( 5.3L Vortec 5300 V8 ) from the Chevrolet Tahoe of the same model year and a high-output version of the 6.0-liter V8 engine ( 6.0L Vortec HO 6000 V8 ), which was installed in the GMC Yukon Denali of the same model year. From early 2003, the ESP system "Stabilitrac" was standard equipment. In autumn 2003, the list of standard equipment was extended again. Thus, the equipment now includes individual seats in the rear and a tire air pressure control system (in all models except for the EXT version). At full-throttle Cadillac 6.0-liter Escalade SUVs at about 8.5 sec 0-60 mph, the 2WD 5.3-liter version at 9.5 sec. AWD SUVs average 14.3-15.6 mpg in city/highway driving.
Standard are front side airbags, antilock 4-wheel disc brakes, traction control, Cadillac's automatic-adjusting road-sensing suspension, 17-inch alloy wheels, and rear-obstacle-warning and OnStar assistance systems. Dashboard shares layout with Chevy/GMC versions, but Cadillacs get a more classier-looking instrumentation. Plenty of head and leg room, Helpful audio/visual rear-obstacle system warns of unseen objects when backing up.
2005 appeared a platinum edition of the vehicle. Extra features of this version included 20-inch chrome wheels, heated and cooled cup holder, three DVD screens and some chrome trim.
The regular Escalade offers rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive without low-range gearing. The ESV is AWD only. AWD Escalades have a 6.0-liter V8 and tow up to 7800 1b, 2WD models have a 5.3 V8 and tow 7300 lb. EXT is a 4-dr crew cab with a "midgate" separating cab from cargo bed. The rear window removes and the midgate folds along with the rear seat to extend the bed from 5.3 ft to 8.1 .
towing capacity is 7400 lb. All AWD Escalades have antiskid control. The power-adjustable pedals work with the standard seat-memory system.

The Cadillac Fleetwood Eldorado eighth generation was a 2-door hardtop car built from 1967 to 1970.
History
The 1967 Eighth generation Eldorado was a great departure from previous generations of Cadillac. The Eldorado was completely redesigned for 1967 as a front-wheel drive hardtop six-passenger coupe, becoming the brand's first entry to capitalize on the era's personal luxury car market, it shared the E-body basic shell with the second-generation Buick Riviera and the first-generation Oldsmobile Toronado, which had been introduced the previous year. Making the Eldorado now much shorter and lower than even the smallest Cadillacs made. But because of its drivetrain layout could still provide room for six-passengers.
The Cadillac adapted a 429 V8 to a Turbo-Hydramatic 425 automatic transmission. With changes needed to the engine mount system for the change of drive along with many other changes such as exhaust manifolds, to fit to the new platform. Now bigger power brake booster. Disc brakes were still optional, but now new standard safety equipment included an energy absorbing steering column and padded instrument panel. The Eldorado featured concealed, horizontally mounted headlamps.
The styling initiated by GM styling chief Bill Mitchell, was now more distinctive leading to the design changes up to the 70s, now more angular. This was also the only Cadillac to be equipped with concealed headlights behind vacuum operated doors. Performance and handling were highly praised, and sales were excellent despite high list prices with sales of 17,930 Other options such as Auxiliary horn, Automatic level control option, Automatic Climate Control,
Cruise control and Rear window defogger. Also Rear quarter power ventipanes.
