The Citroën C-ZERO is a car from Mitsubishi , Peugeot and Citroën with 100% electric propulsion . It is the first rear-wheel drive automobile sold by Citroën since 1938 .

History

Citroën had already tried to produce an electric car in the 1990s. A declination of the Citroën Saxo proved too expensive. Because of the cost of the batteries and its very low autonomy , this initiative had only a relative success, but remarkable for an electric vehicle with 5 500 copies .

The French version of the i-MiEV , an electric vehicle marketed in Japan , is the result of the partnership between PSAand Mitsubishi . After the Peugeot iOn , presented at the fair of Frankfurt 2009, the Citroën C-ZERO brand in late 2010, the second part of the marketing of these electric vehicles in Europe .Under the slogan "Zero fuel consumption, zero emissions of CO 2 , zero noise" Citroën launches in the race ideal for small electric cars for cities. The "chevron brand" thus enriches its offer in the small car segment with a 100% electric solution. It has been designed to facilitate mobility thanks to its small size, fast charging and sufficient autonomy to cover daily journeys.

This electric mini city car measuring 3.48 meters, has four seats and a trunk of 166 liters of volume . It has multiple comfort or safety features: power steering , ESP, six airbags , autonomous telematic case for emergency call and air conditioning .

The car is easy to use. Just turn the ignition key and a "beep" announces the start of the car. She behaves like an automatic car . The gauge to fuel is replaced with a charging indicator of the battery .Six hours are required to fully charge the 14.5 kWh lithium-ion battery , on a 230 V / 14 A power outlet  . However, with an outdoor terminal of 125  A at 400  V , it is possible to recharge the battery. 80% vehicle in 30 minutes ( CHAdeMO ).

With the Peugeot iOn, presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2009, the Citroën C-ZERO marks the second part of the partnership between PSA and Mitsubishi for the commercialization of electric vehicles in Europe . It is offered to individuals, businesses , administrations and local authorities .

The C-ZERO was presented at the world premiere at the Brussels Motor Show in January 2010 and launched on the market during the last quarter of 2010, as was its twin Peugeot iOn.Citroën continues its development of electric cars, through its commercial vehicle , the Berlingo First Electric, in cooperation with the specialized manufacturer Venturi , which was marketed at the end of 2010.

All three vehicles have an electric motor delivering 47 kW or 67 hp from 3,000 to 6,000  rpm . Its maximum torque is 180  Nm from 0 to 2,000  rpm . The engine is powered by latest-generation lithium-ion batteries located in the center of the vehicle. This technology makes it possible to limit the mass of batteries, compared to traditional technologies with equal benefits. In terms of performance, the trio has a top speed of 130  km / h , from 0 to 100  km / h in 15  s and from 60 to 90  km / h in 6 seconds. The autonomy of the car is 130  km approximately .
