Beardsley & Hubb's Manufacturing Company

Beardsley & Hubb's Manufacturing Company

Beardsley & Hubbs Manufacturing Company was an early American manufacturer of automobiles in the 1900s. The brand name was Darling.

History

Beardsley & Hubbs Manufacturing Company in 1901 began the production of automobiles based in Mansfield, Ohio. Volmer Beardsley and Charles Hubbs led the company.  In November 1900, there was an agreement with Rollo R. Darling.  Darling left the company in late 1901. Beardsley and Hubbs moved to Shelby. In 1902, 40 employees produced three vehicles per week. Beardsley and Hubbs then founded the Shelby Motor Car Company.

There were various models. All had a two-cylinder engine, which was specified with 10/12 hp. In 1901, three versions were referred to as model plus number and four other versions as style plus number. Model 1 was a Stanhope, Model 2 was a Stanhope with a roof, Model 5 was a Physicians' Car called Doctor Car, Style 3 and Style 4 Combination Stanhopes and Style 6 and Style 7 Combination Brakes. In 1902, the Model 1 was available both as a Stanhope and as a two- and four-seat Passenger Rig. Style 6 and Style 7 were, as in the previous year, Combination Brakes.

By 1902 ended the production.

There was no connection to Darling Motors Company, which a few years later also had the brand, Darling.
