Eddy Manufacturing Company was an early American manufacturer of electric automobiles. The brand name was Eddy.

History

The company was founded in 1898 in Windsor, Connecticut. Originally it produced electric motors that were sold to other car manufacturers. Between 1900 and 1901 around 10 automobiles were created these were electric-powered Oldsmobile type vehicles.

The cars on offer were exclusively electric cars. A self-made electric motor by the company powered them.Information on these motors, furnished for any voltage desired, but the standard voltage as adopted by the Eddy Company will be 75 volts. The reason for assuming this voltage is as follows :The makers of vehicles are now using 40 or 44 cells of battery, in four sets Of 10 or 1 each. When drawing full current from these 40 cells the voltage will drop to practically 75 volts without injury, and consequently it is believed best to rate the motor at the least voltage at which it is likely to be operated for any length of time. Where two motors are to be operated in series Of Course the voltage of each should be 37% volts. A 40 Or 44 cell battery may be charged from a commercial direct current lighting  circuit without the loss of any considerable amount of voltage in resistance, and consequently it is thought that the 40 or 44 cell combination will be universally adopted.

1902 the company was took over by General Electric.
