The Opel 5/12 PS ("Puppchen") is a car of the Adam Opel KG . This was built from 1911 to 1920 in four series.

History

It was available as an open two-seater, as a landaulet or as a sedan . Only the open four-seater version was called Puppchen in advertising .Model Variants5/12 PS (1911) The 1911-built first series had a 1.26-liter engine with 12 hp at 1800 / min. The top speed was 50-55 km / h.

The four series of four-cylinder four-stroke in-line engines with aluminum crankcases had side-mounted valves, bagger oilers , sprayers and tube coolers with fans. The increase in displacement was achieved in the first three series by increasing the piston stroke from 95 mm over 98 mm to 105 mm with a constant 65 mm cylinder bore; the exact cubic capacity is therefore - calculated at 3.14 for the number of circles and rounded to the nearest integer: 1260 cm³, 1300 cm³ and 1393 cm³. From 1916, the cylinder bore was 70 mm, the stroke 102 mm, which means 1569 cc and would have to result in 6 control horsepower .

The second series got a bigger and stronger engine. 5/12 PS (1912-1914)  The capacity was now 1.3 liters. He made 14.5 hp at 1800 / min. The car now cost between 4200 and 5200 marks.5/12 (5/14) PS (1914) With the same power, the capacity was increased to 1.4 liters. It was also available as an open four-seater. This model variant was nicknamed "Puppchen" and cost 7300 marks.5/12 (5/14) PS (1916-1920) From 1916, the car received a 1.5-liter engine with 14.5 hp at 1800 / min. He cost as a two-seater 5300 marks and four-seater (Puppchen) 5300 marks.
