In November 1982 was carried out the facelift as Senator A and E record what changes to the bonnet, headlamps, bumpers and other parts concerned. From March 1983 Opel offered both Monza and Senator with four-cylinder engine as 2.0 E with 85 kW (115 hp), which was replaced in November 1984 by the same strong 2.2 i.
The driving position is good, helped by a seat which is supportive and adjustable. All switches are well placed and logical. With the 3.0L A 5 speed ZF gearbox is a must, with well spaced ratios. The top speed of 130 mph and acceleration from 0-60 in 8.5 seconds are facts which put Monza, together a fuel consumption of just over 22-27mpg; ,

PERFORMANCE 3.0L
max power (DIN): 150 hp (110 kW) at 5,200 rpm
max torque (DIN): 170 1b ft. 23.5 kg m (230 Nm) at 3,400 rpm
max speed: 123 mph, 198 km/h
power-weight ratio: 20.1 lb/hp (27.5 lb/kW), 9.1 kg/hp (12.5 kg/kW).
The instrument panel, the instruments themselves and the installation depth of the radio shaft were also revised. Overall, the equipment has been significantly upgraded.Monza GSE and latest model changes
In August 1983 appeared with the designation GSE the highest equipment line of the Opel Monza. It differed significantly from the equipment variants of the Opel Senator. The Monza GSE was only available with the 3.0-liter six-cylinder injection engine with 132 kW (180 hp). As standard, there was a sporty interior with Recaro seats, a leather steering wheel and, among other things, an on-board computer.
Seat heating was not available for the GSE in conjunction with the Recaro seats, unlike the comparable Senator CD . In addition, there was a sporty suspension and additional plastic trim in black. The additional three-speed automatic transmission has been replaced by a four-speed automatic transmission.
From the end of 1983, digital display instruments from VDO Automotive were offered for the first time at Opel at the Monza GSE . These could (unofficially) be canceled. Later these were used in the cadet GSI in the same form, but with smaller housing dimensions, as standard. The usual chrome strips were black and anthracite at GSE .
In the summer of 1985, the Monza C and GSE also replaced the last chrome-plated interior trim elements (door handles and openers) with color-matched plastic elements. It was followed by a slight modification of the interior light, which was replaced by a larger (coming from the Opel Kadett E or Opel Ascona C ).
From autumn 1985, the Monza could also be ordered with a regulated catalyst and a revised 3.0-liter engine. However, this provided instead of the usual 132 kW (180 hp) only 115 kW (156 hp) and found in a modified form in the Opel Omega A or Opel Senator B still use.
In a small series of 144 copies of the Opel Monza A2 was converted by the company Keinath under the name KC 5 to the convertible. 22 copies of these vehicles served as the basis for the Bitter SC Cabriolet .
Other
Further information about the Opel Monza can be found in the articles of the Opel Senator and Opel Rekord E models . Also in South Africa there was an Opel Monza. So there were called the notchback and convertible versions of the cadet of the E series.
From 1974 to 1980, the related Chevrolet Monza (originated from the Chevrolet Vega ) was already sold in the US .
Engines
The engine program coincided with that of the Senator, with the exception that the Monza no diesel engines were offered.
