The 2nd generation Mazda Familia was introduced in 1967 and now sold worldwide also called the Familia Presto, Mazda 1200 and 1300.

History

By November 1967 the first model was changed. The design now based on more roundness, the trend of the times. Also, the triangular window was abolished. As Familia, the truck, which is the last truck model, was also remodelled at the same time, and the engine was unified to 1.0L as used in the previous generation sedans. In terms of marketing, with the launch of a low-priced model with minimal equipment called Original, adopted a full-choice system that allows customers to add the equipment they need and like, and prepared a large number of functional parts and accessories. Distribution of the car was weight: 53.8% to front axle, and 46.2% rear axle.This was also this car that now successfully entered the North American market under the name "Mazda 1000."

February 1968 Van full model change, 1200 added to 4-door sedan The Van model was available with either three or five doors. By June 1968-Mazda's second rotary engine- equipped car, Rotary Coupe (R100) is released. The instrument panel is a T-shaped cockpit type. Later in September 1968 - The coupe model, which had been lost due to a model change, was revived. Equipped with a 1.2L engine. A larger 1169 cc straight-four engine version also came in February 1968. Now called the Mazda 1200" for export markets.

July 1969 -Added rotary 4-door sedan SS and flat instrument panel with also a rotary coupe. October 1969 - Rotary TSS of T-type instrument panel was added to the sedan.

April 1970 the range received a facelift including the front grille.  Presto name now also used car with minor changes in the domestic Japanese market and added into the entire Familia range. It is replaced with a 1.0L new overhead camshaft 1.3-liter SOHC engine. In addition, the design of the instrument panel was renewed except for some rotary cars. By December 1970 there was added rotary coupe GS equipped with leather and radial tires, and 1300 GF with T-type instrument panel   Standard and Deluxe versions were available, with the Deluxe also offering five-doors. The Familia was exported as the "Mazda 1300"

September 1971 came the " Grand Familia ", a version of Savanna and an advanced version of Familia Presto. The Grand Familia was an intermediate existence between the Capella and the Familia, but later it was equipped with a Capella engine and became par with the Savannah.

February 1972 The sedan and coupé were updated in Japan and in the autumn of 1973 for export market with Minor changes. The front grill of the sedan, coupe, and van cars has been changed the pickup versions were also now available in a long-wheelbase came with 500 kg (1,100 lb) max load. The previously released coupe GF. Added Presto emblem to the front grille. The 1300 is now powered up to 87 horsepower.

September 1973 - Even after the sedan and coupe underwent a full model change, the front grille of the van and truck was changed, and the conventional model continued to be sold until January 1978. After February 1976, the standard installation of hubcaps was abolished in order to comply with the 1950 emission regulations and reduce manufacturing costs. The Familia Presto Van continued largely unchanged until 1978. An export version of the pickup was still produced in small numbers until the late 1990s as the Familia Super Cab.
