The Ferrari 208 GTB Turbo and GTS Turbo are sports car produced by the Italian car manufacturer Ferrari from 1982 to 1989.

History

The GTB Turbo was the first Ferrari Road car to be turbocharged. Followed the following year by the GTS Turbo. Later just as the Ferrari GTB Turbo and the Ferrari GTS Turb

In 1982, mechanical injection and supercharging were introduced, bringing power output to 220 bhp; the new version was always presented at the Turin Motor Show. Initially this engine was only available for the GTB; in 1983 it was also made available for the GTS. In this Turbo version, the top speed has also increased, reaching 242 km/h declared by the manufacturer.

The engine that powered the 208, derived from that of the Dino 208 GT4, was conceived to adequately deal with the oil crisis of the 1970s/80s, consuming and polluting less than the 3,000 cm³ version; as well as the Italian financial recession of those same years, avoiding the heavy taxation that weighed on engines of over 2,000 cm³.The same strategy was also adopted by Lamborghini and Maserati, with specific car models for that situation .BODY coupé; 2 doors; 2 seats, separate front seats, built-in headrests; leather upholstery; electric windows; heated rear window; tinted glass; light alloy wheels; check control; central door locking.
Optional Pirelli P7 205/55 VR x 16 front wres with 7" wide rims and Pirelli P 7 225/50 VR x 16 rear tyres with 8" wide rims; air-conditioning; front spoiler; metallic spray.

Ferrari 208 GTB GTS Turbo specifications

Mechanically and aesthetically identical to the 308, it differed in the engine , a 1991 cm³ V8 from the Dino 208 GT4 with light alloy block and head, wet liners and 5 crankshaft bearings; subsequently this engine was supercharged by a KKK turbocharger with Bosch K-Jetronic injection in 1982 with a compression ratio of  7:1 and subsequently by IHI with the addition of the intercooler in 1985 , giving life to the 208 Turbo. It was available in two body versions, coupé (GTB), and with a removable roof in the Targa version (GTS) These had front and rear independent suspension and disc brakes also front and rear.

Ferrari 208 GTB GTS Turbo

In 1986 minor changes were made to the car to the bodywork, at the same time as the launch of the Ferrari 328, the engine thanks to the adoption of a turbine from the Japanese IHI (working pressure 1.05 bar), the intercooler from BEHR and the electronic control unit Marelli Med, now had 254 hp (at 6500 rpm), and the horsepower was more manageable thanks to the great low pull. The production of the Ferrari GTB Turbo and the Ferrari GTS Turbo, as they were now called, ended in 1989.
