The Dodge Senior was a luxury car built by Dodge from the late 1920s to 1930.

History

Built as the Dodge series 2249 , Dodge series 2251/2252 , Dodge S series , Dodge DB series )This was a large car of the Dodge Brothers company in Detroit , which was presented in May 1927. After being acquired by Chrysler in 1928, it was built for two more years.

The first Senior cars as the Series 2249 from May 1927 to January 1928).This had a side-mounted six-cylinder in-line engine with 3,676 cc, the 60 bhp (44 kW) at 2800 / min. gave. It was the first six-cylinder of the brand. Its power was transmitted via a single-disc dry clutch and a three-speed gearbox to the rear wheels. The chassis with 2946 mm wheelbase offered a 4-door sedan, a 2-door coupe with 2 or 4 seats and a 2-door convertible for 2 people. Hydraulic brakes on all four wheels were standard equipment.

The Series 2251/2252 from January 1928 to July 1928 with Saloon , Coupé ,Cabriolet bodyAlready in January 1928, the car was revised. The engine gave the same 3.7 liters capacity now a more powerfull 68 bhp (50 kW) at 2800 / min. from. Of all four body types, there were now also sports versions that had contoured fenders, wire spoke wheels and spare wheels on the sides of the vehicle From July 1928 until July 1929 as the Series S, the cars were thoroughly revised and received 4 "more wheelbase (3048 mm). Also, the engine was now 4.0 liters 3,959 cc displacement and made 78 bhp (57.3 kW) at 3000 / min. Of the sports models remained only the coupe and the sedan left, for a 2-door Victoria and a 4-door landaulet were added.

 From July 1929 to July 1930  as the DB series  the S series was renamed DB series, the models were largely adopted. Among the technical innovations was the four-speed gearbox. There were only four bodies offered: sedan, coupe, roadster and Victoria. From November 1930, the DH series replaced the senior.
