DuringArthur's career in the motor trade he has been both Formula I and Indianapolis Chief Mechanic for Team Lotus. He was a founder member of the Clan Motor Company and was instrumental in the success of Clan competition cars. He became involved with restoration in the 70's.Arthur was responsible for the development of both the Midas and the Phoenix kit cars before deciding to manufacture his own car. The McCoy was born.

Quantum Sports Cars

The Quantum Sports Cars Ltd. is a British sports car and kit manufacturer first built in the 1980s

History

The Quantum Sports Cars Ltd. is a British car manufacturer first based in Stourbridge from 1985, West Midlands and later in Loddiswell near Kingsbridge (Devon) since 1987 . The company was founded by Mark and Harvey Woodridge.Available as kits or as fully assembled hand-built road legal cars based on the Europe version of the Ford Fiesta.

The first model was the Quantum Mk. 1 , a saloon based on the mk1 front wheel drive Ford Fiesta , but with a longer, rounder body. Because of the lower weight compared to the Ford, the performance was significantly better. The first two cars were tested by family and friends. The third car was the first to go on sale after a few test drives through auto magazines and promotional events mwith a number sold,

In 1991, the company manufactured a revised version of this small sports car based on the updated 1984 second series of the Fiesta (MK2), which was now available in sufficient quantities at an affordable price to serve as a donor vehicle for the Quantum.

From 1993 a 2 + 2 convertible was also offered, which was also built on the Fiesta mk2,A more powerfull  2 + 2 model with a 2.0-liter engine instead of the 1.6 cvh engine of the Fiesta XR2 was presented in many automotive magazines and also made available to the BBC for their TV car magazine Top Gear . Jeremy Clarkson and his wife drove it and compared it to high-volume sports cars like the Mazda MX5 . The only complaints concerned the smell of the new GRP body parts .

After the change of ownership and the move to Wrangaton in Devon in 2001, the company offers three other models as alternatives to the 2 + 2, all of which are also available as a kit or fully assembled. The new factory (called Xtreme Works ) now has workshops, a sales room, a parts warehouse and an exhibition. In addition, cheap insurance rates, financing, tuning and service are offered. In May 2017, Quantum Sports Cars was taken over by Phoenix Automotive Developments .
