Marshall & Co was a British manufacturer of early automobiles in Clayton, Manchester England .

History

The firm began manufacturing automobiles in Manchester in 1897. Agencies for sales were established in London and Dublin Ireland, It was later renamed Belsize Motor & Engineering Co Limited in 1902.

In 1901, a four-seat model with a Buchet twin-cylinder engine became the first to bear the Belsize brand as the "Marshall Belsize," named after their Belsize plant where they had constructed bicycles. 2 and 4 cylinder engines also became available with 8 hp and 12 hp touring and race cars and taxis.The model 4 ½ HP was similar to the French Hurtu , which in turn resembled the German Benz . The single-cylinder engine was mounted in the rear. There was the body shape vis-à-vis. 

There was no connection to Marshall, Sons & Co. from Gainsborough , which produced steam engines and tractors from 1895 , and also to PFE Marshall from Gainsborough, who produced passenger cars between 1919 and 1920 .

In 1906 the name changed to Belsize Motors Ltd.

Racecorp Limited was a British manufacturer of automobiles in the 1990s. The brand name was Racecorp .

History

 

The company was founded in the 1980s in Chinnor in Oxfordshire England and production of automobiles and kits in 1990.  Eldon House Auto kits later continued production under its own brand name in 1992.

On offer were quality roadsters the models LA and Lai, which differed only slightly in the suspension. They were inspired by the Lotus Seven It was originally designed by engineer Steve Amos. Roger Wimmey had designed the chassis in the form of a spaceframe tubular frame. Then an open two-seater body was mounted. Various engines from Fiat and Ford such as a turbocharged 1600 CVH as well as Wankel engines from Mazda RX7 powered the vehicles through a Type 9, 5-speed gearbox.

1993 ended production. In total, about twelve copies were made including factory-built cars.

Magna Sport , previously Lightspeed Panels , was a British manufacturer of kit type automobiles from the early 70s to late 80s .

History 

Steve Johnson founded in 1972 the company Lightspeed Panels in Barnsley in the county of South Yorkshire . He started producing automobiles and kits . The brand name was magenta . By 1986, the company changed in Magna Sport , as the company moved to the then County of Cleveland in northeast England. In 1988 the production ended. In total, about 600 copies were made. 

Magenta

The first model from 1972 remained on offer until 1988. The base formed a tubular frame chassis. Many parts came from the Austin 1100 , as well as the suspension. In 1978, the chassis was modernized. The four-person open body is described as a mix between a traditional roadster and buggy . A hardtop with gullwing doors was available. From this model created around 500 copies. 

LSR

This model appeared in 1979. It was the two-seat variant of the first model and based on the Ford Escort . By 1986, 40 copies were made. 

Sprint 

From similar Sprint , which was based on the mini , emerged between 1980 and 1986 about 20 copies. 

Tarragon 

Totally different was the Tarragon . The body with a large tailgate was a mixture of station wagon and combo coupe . The basis formed the Ford Escort the first or second generation with front engine and rear wheel drive. Between 1982 and 1985 Lightspeed produced about 35 copies. 

TXR

The successor of the Tarragon had been changed in the rear area. He was now based on the Ford Capri . Between 1985 and 1986 seven copies were made.

EH Lancaster & Company Ltd. was a British manufacturer of automobiles in the early part of the 20th century . 

History

The company from Sunderland with Mr E.H. Lancaster who was later involved With Clement began in 1902 with the production of automobiles. The brand name was Lancaster . 1904 ended the production.

The vehicles were based on chassis on the French Lacoste & Battmann and received built-in motors from De Dion-Bouton . There was a choice of 6 hp and 8 hp engines . The engines were mounted in the front of the vehicle and propelled the rear axle. Cardan drive was standard.

Phoenix Hudlass (1900-1902)

Phoenix Hudlass Motor Works

The Phoenix Motor Works was a British automaker in Southport (Lancashire) . With cars built from 1902 to 1904.

History

Elijah Hudlass and his son Felix  built a early car by 1895 and by 1900, the works had built the Hudlass  as the Hudlass Motor Works. Then the same car appeared as Phoenix and was manufactured until 1902.

The company was then sold to the Phoenix Motor Co also in Southport in 1902.

1904 appeared a three-cylinder model  .Still unsuccessful the company closed its automaker doors in 1906 to make petrol and paraffin engines.
