The Datsun Bluebird PL310 range was built from mid 1959 to 1963 as the model updates 310,311 and 312.
History
The Datsun Bluebird which debuted from mid-1959, the now officially called Datsun Bluebird PL310 complemented the model range and was now sold in Europe. The 310 was an all new all steel bodycar with a five-door station wagon was now added, this has five seats and has luggage space behind the rear seat. With the rear seat folded down, the wagon provides 62 cubic feet of cargo area. It was slightly larger than the remodeled PL210 (wheelbase + 6 cm, length + 3 cm) and was powered by a 1.2-liter OHV four-cylinder with 48 SAE-PS which givesthe car a top speed of 75 mph.
The grade configuration is 1.0L for STD, 1.2L for STD and DX. The styling was by Shozo Sato , Nissan's in-house designer at the time , and although the design was a little behind the global trend, the overall style was moderate and highly functional, and the market responded well. The semi- monocoque body and low-floor ladder frame are combined to reduce weight and secure strength. Many of the main parts were shared with Datsun trucks , and they were sufficiently reliable. The passenger capacity was originally 4 people, but in October 1959 the dimensions of the rear seats were changed to allow 3 people. The main engine is the " C1 " ( water-cooled in -line 4-cylinder OHV 988cc 34PS / 4,400rpm) that was inherited from the previous Datsun Sedan 210 . Later, the stroke was expanded again, and the " E1 type " with 1189cc (43PS / 4,400rpm) was also set (P311 / WP311 type).
Both are technical partners in the United Kingdom. It is a variation of the stroke change based on BMC 's Austin B series engine. The reason for setting the 1.2L class E1 type engine, which was successful in the United States , which was seen as the main export at the time. As Nissan's main model at the time, it was part of the trend of motorization and showed good sales results throughout its four-year model life.
