The Citroën Type 45 was produced as a large truck and coach between 1933 and 1953. 

The platform was the same of the Citroën type 29 , but the engine was a newly developed six-cylinder gasoline engine with 4580 cc and a maximum of 73 hp (54 kW) performance. This was not derived from a car engine. The maximum payload was 5 tons. As a city bus, the vehicle could accommodate up to 40 people.

The Type 45 was also used during World War II . During the war and in the postwar period many were also operated with wood gas .After 72423 copies built it was replaced by the Citroën Type 55 .
