History
The Biscayne concept Experimental Sedan did not at first not go into production after its 1955 debute. The only things that survived from this concept were the new V8 engine and the name Though the design didn't directly translate to the production line, the name did, showing up for 1958 and being demoted to the bottom line range.
There would be production Chevrolets bearing Biscayne badges from the 1958 model year onwards.Chevrolet's Biscayne concept came in 1955 when the four-door hardtop made the Motorama auto-show.
With a few styling cues from the LaSalle the hood mounted Bug eye headlights and center-opening pillarless doors gave the four-passenger design an airy feel.
Its large windshield not only wrapped around, but also went well into the roof a design later used on the 59 Mercurys, looking like a reverse of that on the 1956 Corvette, started in the front door and wrapped aroundto the rear and enclosed the taillights. The wide-toothed grille and fenders with pods on the front end didn't quite match up with the smooth styling.
Power came from Chevrolet's new 265-CID V-8 4.3 litres front-mounted engine and rear-wheel drive.
