Rago Industrias WARV 

Rago

Rago was a family Uruguayan car brand from the mid 1960s to the early 1970s. The brand name was Rago .

History

The company was based in Montevideo. Under the direction of the brothers Carlos and Waldemar Rago it turned to making automobiles.

The model was a small 2+2 coupe. It accommodated two adults and two children. The body was made of fiberglass designed by De la Maria. The empty weight was given as a light 395 kg the suspensions for the front and rear and other components were made by hand for the first cars Independent on all four wheels. By system of tensioning triangles combined with transversal elastics (upper front and lower rear). Telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers.  The vehicle was at 202 cm wheelbase and 122 cm gauge front and 118 cm rear 355 cm long, 145 cm wide and 130 cm high.  A two-cylinder two-stroke engine from Hispano Villiers but not of the same quality as the English Villiers with 57 mm bore, 63.5 mm stroke, 325 cc displacement and 16.5 hp the empty weight was given as 395 kg. This was mounted in the rear and drove the 12-inch rear wheels with further adaptation so that the engine for the car had reverse gear for the hand-built prototype. 

In total, twelve vehicles were created. The original designs and tools are still in possession of the Rago family.
