The NSU Prinz 1000 TT , NSU TT and the NSU TTS were sporty passenger car models of NSU Motorenwerke AG and were built from 1965 to 1972 in different variants. They were based on the model NSU Prinz 1000 .

NSU Prinz 1000 TT (Type 67b) 1965-1967

NSU Prinz TT TTS

In 1965 the Prinz 1000 TT. This had the 1085 cc engine of the NSU type 110 with 55 hp (40 kW) and reached a top speed of 148 km / h.

An original NSU Prinz 1000 TT can be recognized by the twin headlights in front, the black stripe with the inscription "NSU Prinz 1000", the rear opening windows and the chrome-plated letter "TT" attached to the rear. In addition, two holes are drilled for the oil cooler at the rear of the engine compartment at the intake shaft. Due to the only moderate ventilation of the engine compartment, the engine tends to overheat, so the hood is also set up while driving. Torn oil lines often caused fires. In addition, the car was sensitive to the side wind.

In two years, 14,292 NSU Prinz 1000 TT with 1.1 liter engine.

NSU Prinz TT (Type 67c) 1967-1972

In 1967, the Prinz 1000 TT was further developed into a "TT" (also called "1200 TT"). From 1177 cc, the engine now drew 65 hp (48 kW), the weight increased by 5 kg and the top speed to 153 km / h.  the vehicle tuner offered motors with up to 1300 cc and 130 hp (96 kW) that there was even vehicles with mechanical fuel injection. The designation "prince" accounted starting from 1967 for the four-cylinder types.

Instead of the wide black strip between the main headlights, a chrome-plated strip with a black inlay was now attached.

Until production ceased in July 1972, 49,327 NSU TTs were built with a 1.2-liter engine.

NSU Prinz TTS (Type 67f) 1967-1971

Especially for the racing and rally sport the TTS was introduced in February 1967. (In the first few months the vehicles were called "Prinz 1000 TTS"). These vehicles were designed as sports sedans that anticipated the later concept of the VW Golf GTI with low power to weight ratio . Thus, the TTS from 996 cc displacement with two Solex double flat-gas carburettors and a compression ratio of 10.5: 1 brought as standard 70 hp (51 kW) at 6150 / min, tuned also over 85 hp (62 kW). This corresponded at the time of the engine performance of vehicles of the upper middle and upper class, the TTS weighed however only 700 kg. The wheels were set at the front and rear to negative camber .

PERFORMANCE: TTS

  • max power (DIN): 70 hp at 6.150 rpm
  • max torque (DIN): 62 1b ft, 8.5 kg m at 5,500 rpm
  • specific power: 70.3 hp/l
  • max speed: 99 mph, 160 km/h
  • power-weight ratio; 19,2 lb/hp, 8.7 kg/hp
  • acceleration: 0-50 mph (0-80 km/h) sec
  • fuel consumption: 33.2 m/ imp gal, 27,7 m/US gal

Because of their maneuverability, the TTS were successful in mountain races and slalom competitions long after production ceased .

The TTS can be recognized by its inscription in the chrome strips with a black insert between the main headlamps and the chrome letters at the rear. At the front of the car, an additional oil cooler is mounted. There are three holes for the oil cooler at the intake shaft in the engine compartment.

By July 1971, a total of 2,402 cars of this type had been manufactured in about every 3 months of "production campaigns".
