In September 1998, the new Frontera B was introduced based from the Isuzu MU but made in the UK. The vehicle was available, as its predecessor (Frontera A), as a three-door short wheelbase (Sport) and a five-door with a long wheelbase with special versions and limited editions.
The Frontera B (five-door) was a bit shorter, but a little wider. The Frontera B now had a 2.2-l 16V petrol engine as standard engine. A 2.2-l DTI-16V and a larger 3.2-l V6 supplied by Isuzu were offered for a surcharge from the Isuzu MU.
In the summer of 2001, there was a facelift with a different grille and clear glass headlights.
The sale of the Frontera in Europe was discontinued at the beginning of 2004, production also ended in the UK for the Vauxhall version.
