The Morris Oxford matk VI was built throughout the 1960s from 1961 to 1971.
History
All five Farina cars were updated and facelifted in 1961 with a new 1.6 L (1622 cc) version of the B-Series engine, longer wheelbase and a new revised look with lower line appearance with the radiator grille redesigned. The tail fins had been trimmed and there were still detail changes between the marques. The Morris retained the Series V dash, while the Austin had an all-new woodgrain design. The front suspension was independent, wishbones, coil springs, anti-roll bar, lever dampers as upper arms the rear was rigid axle, semi-elliptic leafsprings, anti-roll bar, lever dampers. A option for heavy-duty rear suspension was avaliable. The gearbox came as 4 + reverse mechanical with various ratios plus a Borg-Warner automatic gearbox option.De Luxe specification includes: Heater, screen-warhers, duotone, electric clock, boot light, etc.
Soon after launch by October. 1962 a heater became standard with the divided bench seat was now standard with one-piece a optional extra. Improved rear suspension on Saloon also rear suspension onTraveller. The Screenwashers standard equipment on the Basic Saloon and Courtesy light in boot.
Later by October 1964. Safety features now incluse a modified steering mounting and include plastic framed mirror with crushable visor. Along with greaseless prop shaft.
The new larger Estate/station wagon body fetured 4 + 1 door at the rear hinged top and bottom into double rear doors. The orignal Morris Oxford Traveller estate version Mark V was replaced by a Mark VI estate, although little changed apart from the front grille. with cam and peg steering the turning circle (between walls) for the estate was larger than the saloon at 37.5 ft with 3 turns of steering wheel lock to lock.
