Mitsubishi Colt are a series of passenger cars of the Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motors

History

In autumn 1962, the Colt 600 came as a successor to the Mitsubishi 500 on the market.A five-seat, two-door passenger sedan produced by Shin Mitsubishi Heavy-Industries, Ltd - The 600 was the first Mitsubishi to bear the "Colt" name With the same technology with two-cylinder rear engine and the same wheelbase, the body was revised and enlarged. A few months later, a lower class notchback sedan was also offered. The designer Giovanni Michelotti drew the Colt 1000 with relatively large windows. Soon, a three-door van ( Mitsubishi Colt Van ) came on the market. In 1964, Mitsubishi sold nearly 30,000 van vans. The price new was 429,000 yen.

1965 Mitsubishi finished with 46,000 copies sold the fourth place among all Japanese manufacturers. In the same year the successor model of the type 600, the Colt 800 F appeared , and only a month before its market introduction the larger Colt 1500 . Thanks to the successful Colt model family, production reached a new high in 1968 with 130,253 cars.

Mitsubishi debuted the new Colt 600 as the successor to the first postwar vehicle 500 in the fall of 1962. The quick car with a top speed of 90 km/h was similar to the Goggomobil and the Fiat 500. The first Colt had a displacement of 594 cc and a power output of 18 kW / 25 hp.

In the 1963 Malaysian Grand Prix, Mitsubishi entered two Colt 600 touring cars, which finished second and third in the under 600 cc class, respectively. In 1965, production was discontinued in favour of the more current Colt 800 fastback.
