The Leyland MCW Olympian was a bus model from the British commercial vehicle manufacturer Leyland Motors with a body construction of Metro Cammell Weymann , which was produced between 1954 and 1958.
History
The Leyland MCW Olympian was to produce a lighter version of the Leyland Olympic in the style of the Leyland Tiger Cub . Like the Olympic, the MCW Olympian received the technology from the Leyland Royal Tiger and Leyland Royal Tiger Worldmaster and the chassis of the Tiger Cub and many mechanical parts.
The Olympian was just over 150 kg lighter than the Tiger Cub with the same body design. Externally, the two bus models were distinguished only by the other than the Olympian was differently badged and a differently mounted fuel cap.
With 60 inland and 6 exported copies all 60 were single door with only a few left hand drive, it was the worst selling bus series by Leyland Motors after the Second World War .The Leyland Olympian name was again used by Leyland Motors for a double-decker bus produced from 1979 to 1993 .
