The Lancia Dikappa is a luxury car from the 1920s of Lancia which was produced from 1921 to 1922

History

The Lancia Dikappa is the sporty version of the Lancia Kappa . The Kappa is an open four-seater with Phaeton body , the Dikappa has a torpedo body with inclined windshield.

In 1921 Lancia introduced the "Dikappa", or the sports version of the Kappa , to the market, which it flanked and from which it differed above all for the engine whose distribution was no longer with side valves but instead had the most modern and efficient overhead valves which produced the most evident effect of the increase in power (from 70 to 87  HP with the same displacement ) and therefore in performance ( acceleration , pick-up and speed , which rose from 125 to 130 km / h).

The bodywork in the standard torpedo version of the Dikappa , much more slender and streamlined than the similar version on the Kappa chassis In order to keep the weight of the vehicle low, the carcass skeleton of walnut and acacia wood was covered with aluminum sheet. The four-cylinder engine from the Kappa has been revised and makes a maximum of 64 kW (87 hp) at 2300 rpm from 4940 cc displacement. This power gives the car a top speed of almost 130 km / h. Lancia built 160 pieces of Dikappa. A higher number of pieces was above all prevented by the very high purchase price of 80,000 lire .

Only 160 Dikappas will be produced (129 in 1921 and just 31 in 1922, the year the Trikappa was launched ).
