The Hyundai Precision Machine Company Limited as Hyundai Galloper  from 1991 built  with the assembly of automobiles  as badge engineering the brand names Galloper and Hyundai untill 2004.

History

The corporation was created on April 20, 1980, in Daejeon, South Korea, with headquarters. In May of 1985, the production began. The firm began car manufacturing in September 1991 with the licence of the Mitsubishi Pajero under the name Galloper Exceed and Hyundai Galloper, which received a facelift three years after the start of production. While the Hyundai model dominated the domestic market, the Galloper had a sales success, particularly in the Middle East. Every day, about 20 Galloper units exited the assembly hall.

The second model of the manufacturer was from December 1995, a license of the Mitsubishi Chariot under the name Hyundai Santamo , which in parallel in some markets as Galloper Santamo had been marketed. Specifically reserved for the home market was the LPG version (203S), which was available from January 1996. The Galloper SUV then had to make way in April 1997 of the new generation, which was marketed under both brands under almost the same name. The second generation is also a licensed construction of the Mitsubishi Pajero . A month later came then a sporty leisure version of the Santamo on the market, which, however, was again reserved exclusively for the home market of South Korea and bears the name Hyundai Santamo Plus .

Following this leisure concept, the Galloper II innovation introduced in October 1998 was also introduced, Five months earlier, however, the LPG version of the Galloper was established, which this time was also available to the export market . Although the Galloper was a global success, the model was replaced in February 2001 by the Hyundai Terracan .

Only in Europe was the Galloper II still installed until December 2003. As the Euro IV emission standard would soon be valid in Europe too, it was forced to completely stop production of the Galloper II and came up with the idea of using up the model of the still existing parts as quickly as possible. However, new parts had to be made for this vehicle.

The Galloper II Vanwas Spartan equipped and was intended for commercial use. Available was the van exclusively in Western Europe and was offered both as a three- or five-door box van, as well as with discs in the five-door version. The production of the Santamo had already been finished in October 2002.

The succession of the Kia Carstar had begun. On behalf of Kia Motors Corporation had been built from 1996 to the end of 1999, the Kia Elan for the Asian region. For the units marketed in the Middle East, however, the Galloper brand name was used. In the vehicle identification number , the HPIC used the world manufacturer codes KMX andKMY , which is used today by the Daelim Motor . The units with the world manufacturer code KMZ were produced in the Hyundai plant of Seoul .

the company was renamed the Rotem Company in 2002 and has been renamed Hyundai Rotem Company since 2007 .
