Suminoe Engineering Works Ltd is a manufacturer of vehicles from Japan in the 1950s .The brand name was Suminoe .

History 

In September 1943, the textile company Suminoe Orimono founded the subsidiary Nara Mokuzai Kōgyō for furniture production. In July 1944, it was renamed Nara Kōkūki Kōgyō  wherein wood parts were made for aircraft, and in October 1945, the name change to KK Suminoe Seisakusho and became independent in February 1954 The company from Kyotanabe built car seats and interiors after the war by 1947 with customers such as Datsun . In 1954, headed by Yutaka Katayama with the production of automobiles .  

The model first built from 1954 was the Flying Feather The basis was to create a very cheap car for all. This was a 425 kg heavy micro car with two seats. An air-cooled V-2 engine with 350 cc displacement and 12 PS performance from Nissan was mounted in the rear and drive to the rear thin wheels that came from a motorcycle. The transmission had three gears. The maximum speed was indicated at 64 km / h.

Overall, emerged less than 200 vehicles. By 1955 ended car production.
