The Holden EJ is a car and commercial vehicle built in Australia from 1962 to 1963. the EJ replaced the Holden EK series.

History

In the 1960s style, the EJ Standard / EJ Special was unveiled in July 1962 produced by General Motors Holden. A lower-profile streamlined body with more interior space, the tail fins were now almost gone and now with a lower roofline; only the small round taillights of the EK remained. The front of the new EJ had a grille over the entire vehicle width, with the headlights in-line at the corners the EJ version was only made for one year.

Wheelbase and drive were taken over by the predecessor as well as the model range. The windshield wipers working against each other gave way to parallel units. The hydraulic brakes were converted to a dual-circuit system. Improvements were made also to the front suspension with independent, wishbones, coil springs, anti-roll bar, and telescopic dampers and the Hydra-Matic automatic transmission option, the distribution of weight was  54.2% to front axle, and  45.8% at the rear axle. All EJ models were powered by a 138-cubic-inch (2,262 cc) inline six-cylinder with cast iron cylinder block and head with a single Bendix-Stromberg BXOV-1 downdraft carburettor, producing 75 bhp (56 kW) The EJ was the last Holden to be equipped with that engine. In addition to the standard and the special, there was now the sedan as a flagship Premier.
