The Borg Ward B 611 is a small van of Borg Ward -Werke in Bremen with a payload of up to 1.8 tonnes (nominally 1½ tons ) . It was established in 1957 under the name Borgward B 1500 F as Frontlenker presented transporter ( F = forward control) and in the brochures as 1 1/2 to cab- called . In 1959 the name was changed to B 611 changed. It was available as a box van , minibus (BO 611) and as a pickup or flatbed with hinged side walls. He should complete the Borgward B 1500 or from 1959 B 511 called hood truck.

Engine and transmission 

The cab's engine was installed between the driver's and front passenger's seats. There was a choice of two water-cooled four-stroke four-cylinder engines, namely the Borgward Isabella 1.5-liter gasoline engine with an output of 60 hp (44 kW) or the Borgward Hansa 1800 1.8-liter diesel engine with 42 hp (31 kW). Both versions had the fully synchronized four-speed gearbox with steering wheel circuit of the Borgward B 1500. The top speed with gasoline engine was 92 km / h, with diesel engine 75 km / h. 

Suspension and bodywork 

The B 611 had a ladder frame of longitudinal, rectangular sheet metal profiles with crossbeams, independent front suspension on wishbones with coil springs, rear a rigid axle with leaf springs. The engine, clutch, transmission, radiator and front suspension were picked up by a subframe. The driver's cab of the pickup truck was generously glazed, had narrow columns and a good overview. The rear wall of this cabin and the rear wall of the bus were identical in the interests of rational production, and in the panel van, this component was used with little change.

The vehicle had a wheelbase of 2600 mm. The bus and van were 5100 mm long, the flatbed 5200 mm. The width was uniform at 2100 mm, the height at 2230 mm and 2180 mm (flatbed). With a relatively narrow turning radius of 10.8 m, the car was considered particularly suitable for use in the city. 

The production of the Borgward B 611 ended in 1961. 14,748 pieces were manufactured.
