The Peugeot D3 and D4 is a transporter type Box van of the brand Peugeot and was manufactured post war from 1946 to 1965. The engine of the car models Peugeot 202 and 203 was used.

History

The vehicle was introduced in 1946 in style Chenard et Walker CHV as the successor to the Peugeot DMA . The original version had a water-cooled engine with 1021 cc capacity kg and 19 kW (26 hp) and a maximum load capacity of the 1500th The empty weight is given as 1400 kg.

Its cabin-forward monocoque body was derived from the 1947 front wheel drive CPV Chenard et Walcker . by the Peugeot network. In 1955 , the D3 became D4 with a Peugeot 403 engine . In all cases, the front cantilever engine is placed longitudinally in front of the gearbox and the suspension is four-wheel independent.

The D3 and D4 existed in panel van, minibus, ambulance, livestock truck and horse van variants (by the Théault company in Avranches). The Peugeot van was also used by La Poste as a minibus for the transport of postmen and by the Police for mobile checks .

  • June 1946 : Chenard and Walcker CHV , 1,500  kg payload, 1,021  cm 3 two-stroke flat-twin engine , 26 hp , water-cooled.
  • April 1947 : Chenard and Walcker CPV , with Peugeot 202 engine , 30  hp .
  • October 1950 : Chenard and Walcker CP3 , with Peugeot 203 engine , 32  hp .
  • January 1951 : Chenard and Walcker CP3 stop.

In 1947, a more powerful engine from the Peugeot 202 with 1133 cc and 22 kW (30 hp) added power. One year later they built the 1290 cc engine from the Peugeot 203, which made two hp more than that of the 202nd Thus, the model name was changed to Peugeot D3A .

Only in 1952 came a motor with 29 kW (40 hp) and an adapted radiator grille . At this step, the model name was changed to Peugeot D3B . In 1955, the D3B was then replaced by the second generation of the model, the Peugeot D4 , which was manufactured until 1965 and offered with 45 and 50 hp engines. From 1959 there was the D4 also with a diesel engine.

In 1965 , the D4, which became D4B, was replaced by the Peugeot J7 .
