The fourth-generation Ford Mustang that was produced by the American manufacturer Ford from 1994 to 2004.

History

For 1994 the Ford Mustang underwent its first major redesign in fifteen years when Ford introduced a new generation of the sports car in the spring of 1994 as a two-door coupé and convertible in the Basic, GT and Cobra versions, with the complete convertible assembly again being manufactured by the manufacturer. Ford allocated $700 million to improve the Fox platform for the 1994 Mustang. The design, code named "SN-95" by Ford, was based on an updated and modernized version of the Fox platform.

The base model was powered by a 3.8-liter V6 engine with 108 kW (147 hp) at 4000 rpm and 215 lb ft (292 NM) of torque at 2500 rpm. , the GT of a 160 kW (218 hp) five-litre V8 engine with standard 5-speed manual transmission or an optional AODE 4-speed automatic transmission, all Mustangs received standard four-wheel disc brakes, with optional anti-lock brakes (ABS) .It featured styling by Bud Magaldi that incorporated some stylistic elements from the classic Mustangs Along with its new exterior, the Mustang received new interior styling. A convertible returned, but the previous notchback and hatchback body styles were discontinued in favour of a more conventional coupe design. The car felt more solid to drive and handled far better. Now much improved handling as well as noise, vibration over the previous generation. The Mustang's front suspension makes use of MacPherson struts with longer lower control arms, new spindles, anti-roll bars,In the rear, a four-bar link solid axle. There was the limited-edition Mustang Cobra (5000 Coupés, 1000 Cabriolets), a development of Ford's Special Vehicle Team (SVT), which was powered by a 179-kW version of the V8 engine. The car remained rear-wheel drive.

Model year 1995-1996

Between base and GT, the Mustang GTS was pushed, a GT with slimmed-down features that should only be available this year. The Cobra was limited to 4000 coupes and 1000 convertibles. Special Cobra R versions were available in limited editions in 1993, 1995, and 2000.  the Cobra R with emaciated equipment and 224 kW (304 hp) strong 5.8-liter V8 engine with GT-40 induction as a base model for racing. Furthermore, a limited edition of the SVT Cobra Convertible, which was delivered with Hardtop, was made only in black (limited to 499 pieces). By 1996 the engine was replaced by the all-new 281ci (4.6-litre) 'Modular' V8 in 1996 In GT and Cobra, a new 4.6-liter V8 engine was used, which provided 160 kW (218 hp) and (in the Cobra) 227 kW (309 hp) which offered an increase in refinement at the cost of torque. The Cobra produced 5500 Coupés and 2500 Cabriolets. The AODE transmission was replaced with the 4R70W 4-speed automatic transmission.

Ford Mustang IV

Model year 1999-2000

The late 1998 Mustang GT was a progression of the body style which appeared in 1994 refreshed model with Ford's "New Edge" styling themes came in 1999. , In December 1998, the Mustang was subjected to a larger facelift. Characteristics were a stern drawn front, new rear lights and side beads, which should remind of the original Mustang. The chrome horse on the grille was now surrounded by a frame. The performance of the engines increased consistently: the V6 engine to 142 kW (193 hp), the base V8 engine to 194 kW (264 hp) and the Cobra to 238 kW (324 hp). The Cobra version was first equipped in the history of the Mustang with a rear independent suspension which was suspended in a pre-assembled steel tube frame. This unit was then attached to the existing suspension points for the otherwise installed rigid axle. These measures improved handling and ride comfort significantly, according to Mustang development chief Paul Giltinan. For 2000 no major changes, but the Cobra was temporarily not available. The Cobra R as a racing model was again launched in small quantities, this time powered by a 287 kW (390 hp) carrying 5.4-liter V8 engine.

Model years 2001-2004

The GT received a scoop on the hood, side dehumidifiers, a modified rear wing and smoke-tinted headlamp lenses. Ford offered a special version of its GT with the "Bullitt" nameplate the GT Bullitt ("Edition I”) like Steve McQueen's original Bullitt Mustang was available in Dark Highland Green with a stronger V8 engine 201 kW 274 and modified suspension launched. 5582 copies were made of it with 1/4 mile in 3-4 tenths of a second faster than a regular GT.Reintroduction of the Cobra (in the spring of 2002 as a model 2003) this time with vastly increased power and handling it received a T56 6-spd transmission coupled with a supercharged 4.6L DOHC V8. with now 290 kW (395 hp). Furthermore, the name Mach 1 (after the muscle car models of the Mustang from the model years 1969 and 1970) was revived. Also returning in 2003 was the "Mach 1" The new Mach 1 was characterized by an interior with nostalgic reminiscences retro style gauges, and aluminium pedals and shifter Magnum styled 17-inch wheels, on the old Mach 1 awning trim, a shaker bonnet and a 227 kW (309 hp) strong 4.6-liter V8 engine The Mach 1 used a non-supercharged version of the Cobra's 4.6 DOHC V8.The Mach 1 strengthened to 231 kW (314 hp). As a matter of course, the Mustang and Mustang GT were also available as 40th Anniversary Editions with special metallic paint and enhanced features it consisted of special metallic red paint with gold stripes 40th Anniversary badging.
