The Ford Figo is a small car that Ford has been producing in India since 2010 .

History

The Ford Figo sold in addition to its home market in other emerging markets such as South Africa . In Mexico , the Figo is offered as a hatchback icon. In 2011, Figo was voted Car of the Year in India and South Africa

The Figo of the first generation was presented in New Delhi in September 2009. The sale in the home market started in March 2010, already in July 2010, 25,000 copies were sold. 15 months later, 100,000 copies were sold in India.

In March 2013, when images were being circulated through blogs of prepared blogged and gagged women in the trunk of a Ford Figo, this was resolved on the Internet, also in light of the social debate in India on women's rights to gang rape in Delhi in 2012 , Protests. Ford then explained his regret and that it was just the designs of individual employees. The first generation was built in Chennai .

The Ford Figo is available with either petrol or diesel engine, all are equipped with five-speed manual transmission, anti-lock braking system and power steering . The Ford Figo diesel has the same engine that is also available in the Ford Ikon and the Brazilian Ford Fiesta . It is a "Duratorq" four-cylinder diesel engine with 1399 cc capacity, 51 kW (69 hp) and a maximum torque of 160 Nm at 2000 / min. It has 8 valves, an overhead camshaft and common rail injection, This engine was also used in the 2008 offered in Europe Ford Fiesta. The gasoline engine is a newly developed engine with 1196 cc, which provides 52 kW (71 hp) at 6250 / min and a maximum torque of 102 Nm at 4000 / min. It has two overhead camshafts and 16 valves. The maximum speed of both versions is 160 km / h.

The design differs only slightly from the European Fiesta '02 , on which the Figo is based. However, it is not identical to the Brazilian Fiesta, which is also based on the Fiesta '02. This one has another front similar to the Fiesta '09 and a more modern dashboard.
