Presented at the 1955 Geneva Motor Show Fiat 1100 TV Trasformabile is a two-door convertible on the technical basis of the two years earlier Fiat 1100-103 TV .
Fabio Luigi Rapi designed the car for Fiat's internal bodywork Fiat Carrozzerie Speciali, which later manufactured it. In contrast to the standard 1100, the design was significantly influenced by American models of the time, even down to the modest tail fin. The floating turn signal satellites over the front fenders were one of the most noticeable characteristics. The 1089 cc four-cylinder inline engine, which was derived directly from the Fiat 1100, produced 37 kW. (50 hp).
The model was redesigned in 1956, and the model name is now preceded by a "E." The engine now produced 39 kW, just like the sedan (53 hp). Furthermore, the too sensitive turn signals were relocated to the fender overhead.
Another year later, the 1100 Trasformabile was replaced by the Fiat 1200 Trasformabile , which was based on the only slightly modified body. The numbers of the 1100 TV remained limited mainly because of the price; even the big Fiat 1900 was cheaper.
