The Ferrari Portofino is a sports car of the Italian manufacturer Ferrari , which was first presented on August 23, 2017.

History

The four-seater is designed as the previous model Ferrari California as a coupe-cabriolet with aluminum folding roof and was named after the Italian port of Portofino . The new Portofino had its public premiere at the International Motor Show in September 2017 in Frankfurt.

The front is highlighted by the headlights with full LED technology with a new horizontal development that are inserted inside two aerodynamic channels that create an air curtain effect: the air flows touch the front wheels, reducing the drag of the wake on the sides. and thus improving the car's aerodynamic coefficient. The most connotative element of the front is the large central air intake, necessary for cooling the twin-turbo V8 engine , flanked by the side air inlets of the intercoolers . Two further vents have been made on the hood for the escape of hot air from the engine compartment.

Ferrari Portofino dash

Created by the Ferrari Style Center under the direction of Flavio Manzoni , the style of the Ferrari Portofino is characterized by the two-volume fastback configuration , an unprecedented solution for a coupé-cabriolet equipped with a retractable hard top that further streamlines its line through the integration of the roof with tail. The Maranello stylists were inspired by the famous 365 GTB / 4 Daytona , abandoning the three-volume solution that characterized the previous California .  There are also some stylistic details that recall the 812 Superfast , such as the grille and the shape of the headlights.

The 3.9-liter V8 engine with turbocharging comes from the previous model California T, but makes in Portofino with 441 kW (600 hp), but 29 kW (39 hp) more. Responsible for this are a newly programmed engine control , new connecting rods and pistons as well as a revised intake system .  The turbo lag has been reduced, with an accelerator response of less than one second , thanks to the adoption of the following technological solutions:the flat shaft , which guarantees greater compactness and containment of the masses and improves fluid dynamics ; compact turbines , less subject to inertia forces and equipped with twin scroll technology which reduces the interference of the exhaust waves between the cylinders by increasing the level of pressure pulsations at the turbo inlet; the exhaust manifold equipped with ducts of equal size to optimize the pressure waves in the turbine.

Vehicle dynamics have been optimized by intervening on the suspension with springs stiffer by 15.5% and 19% respectively at the front and rear and by adopting the latest evolution of the SCM-E magnetorheological shock absorbers, integrated by ESP Premium 9.1 to guarantee greater comfort. The system is equipped with new double solenoid shock absorbers to improve the regulation of the magnetic field in terms of precision and speed, and a new control unit that implements the control of the vertical dynamics based on the frequency of the road input.
