The Dodge Custom Royal was a big car that Dodge made in the years 1955-1959. At that time this was the top model of Dodge.
In 1955, the Meadowbrook fell away, so that the Coronet was the cheapest Dodge offer. The Royal was the middle model range and as a top model, the Custom Royal was introduced. The cars were powered by a V8 Chrysler Hemi engine with 5211 cc capacity, which - 218-260 bhp - depending on carburetor assembly.
There were a number of construction variants:
- 4-door sedan
- 4-door hardtop sedan - the Lancer
- 2-door hardtop coupe - also called Lancer .
- 2-door hardtop special edition 1955/56 - the La Femme
- 2-door convertible
The all-steel constructed body, rubber insulated to chassis with wrap-around windscreen and safety glass on all windows.

The 1958 and 1959 models of the Custom Royal, the Coronet and the Royal had DeSoto chassis, but were equipped with less chrome jewelry. The engines were the 4.4-liter V8 "Red Ram" or the "Super Red Ram" with 5.3 to 5.9 liters available.
In model year 1960, the Custom Royal was replaced by the model Polara .
