The Datsun 12 was a small car built from 1933 to 1934 By Datsun Japan.

History

The Datsun 12 was an evolution of Datsun 11 . The bodywork hardly changed, but there were significant changes to the mechanics. For 1933, the regulations regarding the maximum size of the engine for small cars in Japan were changed. Datsun successfully petitioned the government for increased engine capacity. Mr. Takeuchi, one of Datsun's biggest investors, was the cousin of the ex- prime minister of Japan and probably still had good connections with politics, So there was now the new rule that small cars may have a maximum capacity of 750 cc. Datsun increased his engine to 748 cc, which increased the power to 12 hp.

Datsun 12 history

Built as a Touring car , roadster , sedan .The changes to the body related to the doors, the upper edges were rounded off, giving the car a more pleasing shape. At the level of the waistline, a decorative strip that ran all around was painted in a contrasting color. While the engine and 3-speed manual gearbox were manufactured by either the Yanase Motor or the Nihon Jidosha Corporation, the chassis supplied the Osaka Automotive plant from Tobata Casting, which was later renamed Nissan . 1934 replaced the Datsun 13 after 150 built copies of the model.
