Simplex Motor Vehicle Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles in the early part of the 20th century. The brand name was officially Hood .

History

Ralph Otto Hood manufactured his first vehicle in 1899. It was only in April 1900 that he founded the company in Danvers , Massachusetts . He continued the production of automobiles. In addition, the names Electronomic Steamer and Simplex Steamer. 1901 ended production.

Hood made steam cars. They corresponded largely to other steam cars of the time. Unusually, the steam engine had four cylinders while many competitors used two-cylinder engines.

The maximum speed was specified at 48 km / h. The new price was 1000 US dollars .

As far as known, at least two vehicles were created. Two have been preserved.
