The Chevrolet Mercury Standard, was a mid- size car, which was built in the years 1933-1936 by Chevrolet in the US as the successor to the Confederate Mid-season, a new model with 107-inch series called the Mercury was made. This name was kept only for one year. Many people refer to this car as the Standard Series but this title was not given until the 1934 models so this was built as the Standard line Model "Mercury".

The actual successor of the Confederate in the lower middle class appeared only in the middle of the model year 1933. Its wheelbase had been reduced by 3 "to 2,718 mm. The above-controlled six-cylinder in-line engine now had indeed 2,966 cc, however, like its predecessor, 60 hp (44 kW) at 3000 rpm . If the Confederate still had a synchronized transmission, this synchronization was lost again to the standard Mercury. The bodies had been aerodynamically improved and had V-shaped radiator masks reclining backwards. The ventilation flaps on both sides of the bonnet were narrower and no longer chrome-plated, but painted, as were the headlights, which only had chrome rings.

The Mercury models came in three versions: Coach, 2-passenger Coupe, and Rumble seat Coupe. Both series used the same engine. Tire size was now 5:25 x 18. The car had mechanical brakes, and a 14 gallon gas supply. Prices ranged from $445 for the 2-passenger Mercury Coupe up to the Eagle Cabriolet in 4-passenger style for S565. The Town Sedan was a new model for the year this had a built in trunk and spare tires in the fender wells. two coupés with two or four seats and a 2-door saloon with 5 seats. Only 35,845 copies were made in the shortened model year.
