In 1953, the new Special one fifty 150 Series 1500A replaced the special. The number of chrome teeth in the radiator grille has been reduced to three, for which two fog lamps have been integrated. At the rear, there were light tail fins . The hatchback models had been dropped and in addition to the known four notchback models, there was a five-door station wagon. The new 235 in3 "Thrift-King" engine with 3,859 cm 3 now made 108 hp (66 kW) at 3600 rpm .
In the following year, the integrated fog lights fell away again. More styling improvements came for 1954 with full-width Five vertical teeth horizontal center grille bar housing horizontal parking lamp The taillight housings were hooded to create a fin-like look with white cigar-shaped lens. Powerglide was now availale in 'One-Fifty' models, the 150 Specials had black window crank knobs, and plainer interior.
The five-seater coupé and the three-seater business coupe - still intended as a representative car - were also renounced and renamed Utility-Sedan. The performance of the base engine (manual transmission only) increased to 115 bhp (85 kW); others were given on request, the more powerful 235.5 in3 "Blue Flame" variant with 125 hp (92 kW) at 4,000 rpm in conjunction with the Powerglide-automatic transmission.
In two years, the Special 150 was built exactly 306,038 times.
