The Chevrolet Lumina is a manufactured by the American car manufacturer General Motors since 1989 car of the GM W-body. The vehicle was manufactured from early 1989 to spring 2001 in Oshawa (Canada) and replaced both the Chevrolet Celebrity and the Chevrolet Monte Carlo.
As Lumina in the US two different vehicles were called, which initially led to some confusion among the buyers. In addition to a sedan called Lumina Sedan also the minivan Lumina APV was offered.
The last model was manufactured in Australia by the GM subsidiary Holden and offered only in a few markets.
From the beginning of 1989, under the name Lumina, the official race car model of Chevrolet for the NASCAR race led. At about the same time, the production car came with the same name in the trade. The American Chevrolet Lumina was based on the W - Platform of General Motors, which was similar to the Pontiac Grand Prix, Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, Oldsmobile, Buick Regal and Buick Century (after 1996).

Lumina Z34
The stronger version of the production model was introduced in the spring of 1991 two-door coupe Lumina Z34. This had a 3.4-liter V-6 engine (Engine Code: LQ1) with DOHC valve control, the maximum of 157 kW (210 hp) at 5200 min -1rendered performance.
The external changes were z. B. factory-attached spoilers and some modified to the body moulds, air intake slots in the hood, and a special steering wheel. The grill was also delivered with a panel in body colour. The whole thing resembled the Ford Taurus SHO.
