The Chevrolet SS is a 4 door sports sedan of the US automaker General Motors . It was offered in the US between 2013 and 2017.

History

The SS is the first new Chevrolet sedan with rear-wheel drive in the US since 1996. It was the season opener in 2013 of the NASCAR Sprint Cup at the Daytona International Speedway ( Daytona 500 ) it presented for the first time  and was available in the US between 2013 (model year 2014) and 2017 (model year 2017). The production was discontinued simultaneously with that of the Holden Commodore VF and the closure of the GM plant in Australia.

The vehicle is based on the Australian Holden Commodore of the fourth generation in the series VF ( GM Zeta platform ). Technically, the Chevrolet SS is largely identical to the HSV Clubsport , but has a slightly reduced performance compared to this. The engine is a V8 gasoline ( GM V8 for the version with the engine code LS3) with a maximum power of 415  hp (309 kW / 420 hp), combined with a six- speed automatic transmission is also used.The acceleration from 0 to 97 km / h (60 mph) is given as 4.6 seconds.
