The Chevrolet Lakewood is a 5-door station wagon , produced by the company Chevrolet in the model years 1961 and 1962.
History
The Lakewood was the estate version of the Chevrolet Corvair , making it the entry-level model. The vehicle corresponded in size and design of the VW Type 4 and had the rear air cooled engine of the Corvair with 2376 cc displacement and a power of 80 bhp (59 kW) at 4400 / min. The wheelbase was, as in the Corvair, 2743 mm and it was installed a manual three-speed gearbox with luggage compartment at the front. All 1961 Station Wagons had a rubber floor covering. The Monza 900 series was available with bucket seats carpeting.
In 1961, the Lakewood was available as a Corvair Series 500 in a simple configuration or as a Corvair Deluxe 700 Seriesin upscale appointments. The following year was called the simple equipment Corvair series 700 and the upscale Corvair Monza 900 series . In the 900 series, the engine had 84 bhp (62 kW) and was connected to a PowerGlide dual- stepautomatic.
In 1963, no more Corvair station wagons were offered. A total of 32,120 copies in two years, of which only 2362 pieces (only 1962) with automatic transmission.
