Paint Blooming (Blushing) Problems

Paint Blooming (Blushing) Problems

A milky and sometimes dull appearance formed in paint films during or immediately after spraying, caused by precipitation of the components of the film, due to condensation of moisture on the wet film. Fast evaporating thinner, high air pressure, draughts, and rainy or humid weather all lead to this condition.

Prevention
1. Avoid spraying on rainy or extremely humid days.
2. Use high-grade thinner.
3. Use a retarder on humid days.

Repair
1. In extremely bad cases, respraying using a high-grade thinner.
2. In minor cases, spraying a coat of high-grade thinner or retarder will redissolve the blushed film and restore normal appearance.
