The Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham is a 1974 to 1986 produced car model of the US vehicle brand Cadillac .

History

For 1974 The Brougham d Elegance option. which  features crushed velour cloth throughout . With the model year Cadillac gave the traditional name used since 1938 Sixty Special and renamed the model in Fleetwood Brougham.

The Fleetwood Brougham was a luxuriously equipped version of the Deville limousine on longer wheelbase (initially 337.8 instead of 330.2 cm) with otherwise unchanged technology (rear-wheel drive, rigid rear axle, 8.2-liter V8 with quadruple carburettor (193 hp) or Injection (218 hp)).

For 1976 the formal styling of the four-door pillar sedan accents the interior which features many special Fleetwood Brougham luxury appointments The Fleetwood Brougham is available in 16 standard and 6, optional fire mist paint colours. 13 Of which are new with this model year. In addition, 11 padded elk grain Vinyl selections for the roof are offered. complemented by 3 available colour accent stripes along with two "special edition" luxury options, the Talisman and the Fleetwood Brougham d' Elegance, both featuring unique interior and exterior trim.

For model year 1977, all Cadillac models were reduced (with the exception of Seville and Eldorado), but retained rear-wheel drive. Since then, the wheelbase (308.6 cm) of Deville and Fleetwood Brougham has been the same. The drive now took over a seven-litre V8 engine (183 hp with carburettor, 198 hp with injection), the power transmission continues the turbo-hydromantic three-speed automatic.

For model year 1980, the cars were slightly revised and received a flatter front end, which should improve the aerodynamics and thus reduce gasoline consumption. At the same time, the seven-Liter was replaced by a six-Liter V8 engine; on request, the diesel V8 was available from Oldsmobile with 5.7 Liter displacement. For the first time there was the Fleetwood Brougham as a two-door coupe.

Only in 1981 was the modular, so-called V8-6-4 engine with 6-liter displacement and cylinder deactivation standard equipment; on request, a 4.1-liter V6 or diesel was still available. From 1982 belonged to a new, developed by Cadillac itself 4.1-liter V8 to the basic equipment and the V6 accounted for.

As the model year 1985, the Fleetwood (together with the Cadillac DeVille ) again downsized and converted to front-wheel drive, the previous Fleetwood Brougham remained as an independent model continues in the Cadillac range and was called from model year 1987 simply Cadillac Brougham . 1986 accounted for the Fleetwood Brougham coupe and the diesel engine; the 4.1-liter V8 was replaced by a five-liter engine (307 cui) from Oldsmobile.

The large rear-wheel drive model remained in production until 1992 and was replaced in the fall of 1992 by the rear-wheel-drive Cadillac Fleetwood on the General Motors D platform, which was related to the Chevrolet Caprice of the time.
