Standard equipment includes 17-inch alloy wheels, four-wheel ventilated disc brakes with ABS, leather upholstery, wood accents in the cabin, power seats, memory for the seats and mirrors, dual-zone automatic climate' control, a CD player and OnStar telematics. Powertrains and Performance: Two engines are available in the Rainier. The standard power plant is GM's 4.2-liter inline six that makes 275 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque. For added towing power, an optional 5.3-liter V8 offers 290 hp and 325 lb ft of torque. Two-wheel-drive models equipped with the 5.3 Liter V8 can tow up to 6,700 pounds. Both engines use the same transmission a four-speed electronically controlled automatic.
The vehicle was offered with two engines: a 4.2-liter straight-six with 205 kW and a 5.3-liter eight-cylinder V-engine with 216 kW of maximum power. In the model 2006, the performance of the 4.2 Liter engine was raised to 217 kW, which of the V8 engine to 224 kW. The engine power is transmitted by four-speed automatic transmission either to the rear axle (rear-wheel drive) or on both axles (four-wheel drive) The Rainier was the first short-wheelbase to use the 5.3 V8.
For the last model year was also a CXL called version with Bose stereo speakers and a satellite radio Sirius brand available. Rear there was now standard air suspension, optional, the Rainier CXL was also available with four-wheel drive.
