S & J Motor Engineers was a British manufacturer of kit type automobiles from the 1980s. The brand name was S & J.
History
Simon Hilton founded the company in 1984 in Battle in East Sussex. They started producing automobiles and kits. The first and best-selling model was the Milano. The base was a tubular frame chassis. On it a body made of fiberglass was mounted. The four-seater convertible was similar to the concept car Jaguar XJS Pininfarina. Many parts came from the Alfa Romeo GTV and a 2 plus 2 in drop head coupé form and has reasonable accommodation in the rear seats for two adults. Performance is in line with the donor car giving 0—60 mph. in 8.5 secs. and a top speed of 118 m.p.h. The Sportive appeared in 1985 and remained until 1986 in the range. He was a little shorter and sportier designed than the Milano. Of these, five copies were made. Smith Auto Blast of Birmingham led by Lee Smith tried in vain to continue production in 1999. 1986 ended production. In total, about 48 copies were made.
