Dowagiac Motor Car Company, was an early American manufacturer of automobiles. The brand name was Dowagiac and also Doe-wah-Jack.

History

The JV Lindsley Auto Chassis Company was taken over by a group of Dowagiac people in Michigan in 1909. One of them was Frank Lake. They continued to manufacture autos. Commercial vehicles and a larger passenger car with the brand name Dowagiac and trucks as Doe-wah-Jack were also in the works. Frank Lake and another employee were killed in a car accident in July 1909. Then production was over. A total of 15 vehicles were built. The factory equipment was taken over by the Tulsa Auto Manufacturing Company.

The cars corresponded to the Lindsley. They were high wheelers. The chassis had 198 cm wheelbase. A two-cylinder engine with 10 hp drove over a chain to the rear axle. Model B was a runabout and Model C was a Stanhope.
