History

The Beech Aircraft Corporation was founded in 1932 by Walter Beech. Originally, only civil transport aircraft were to be developed and built, but soon also military aircraft were included.

In 1946, the company produced two prototypes of a passenger car the concept car with styling that combined airplane and automotive looks. The Doors like some aircraft were extended into the roof for ease of access were flat with a Solenoid-activated push button entry. Inside the large bench seat had electric adjustments. The Beechcraft Plainsman was a four-door, six-seater sedan with an aluminium body.

An air-cooled four-cylinder engine of Franklin drove an electrical generator.  The generator supplied the four-wheel motors with power. Each of the electric motors made around 25 hp to each wheel with a claimed 160-mph top speed. The traditional drivetrain of transmission and clutch, differential and even a prop shaft were no longer needed.
