Mercedes-Benz OM 607 diesel engine

Mercedes Benz
Mercedes-Benz OM 607 diesel engine
OM 607
Manufacturer:Renault
Production period:since 2012
Style:Four-cylinder in - line engine
Engines:1.5 liters (1461 cm³)
Previous model:none
Successor:Mercedes-Benz OM 608

The Mercedes-Benz OM 607 is the first diesel engine to come from a cooperation between the German Daimler AG and the French automobile manufacturer Renault , and is used in the A-Class ( W 176 ), B-Class ( W 246 ) and Citan ( W 415 ).

Technology

The four-cylinder in - line engine has a cylinder bore of 76 mm, a piston stroke of 80.5 mm and a displacement of 1.461 liters. The engine is offered in total in 3 power levels that use different turbochargers (Citan up to 66 kW do not have a VTG charger) for charging. Together they have, however, the common rail - direct injection at a pressure of 1600 bar, 2 valves per cylinder and one overhead camshaft.

For the car models of the A- and B-Class, the base engine of Renault was revised according to specifications of Mercedes-Benz and adapted to the rest of the engine range. Starter, alternator, air conditioning compressor and the gasoline engine of the M 270 series engine mounts come from the Mercedes shelf, and a dual-mass flywheel is installed. Thanks to these changes, the gearboxes from Mercedes-Benz can be mounted.

As power transmission there are the following transmission variants:

  • Five-speed manual transmission for Citan with 55 kW or 66 kW
  • Six-speed manual transmission for Citan with 81 kW
  • Six-speed manual transmission for A- and B-Class
  • Seven-speed dual clutch transmission as option for A and B class
