Pontiac Grand Am

The Pontiac G6 is a mid-size car , which was introduced in the fall of 2004 on the North American car market. This replaced the Pontiac Grand Am and was available as a sedan , coupe and convertible .

In November 2009, the total production of the Pontiac brand ended after 103 years with a G6 model.A unique option on the G6 is a panoramic sunroof that Opens in four sections and remains exposed when its open.

History

The model is based on the Epsilon platform from General Motors The G6 is the third production car to utlize General Motors' Epsilon platform , which also forms the basis for the Chevrolet Malibu , the Saab 9-3 and the Opel Vectra . The G6 has like this front-wheel drive .Pontiac uses the lengthened version of the Epsilon platform .This long-wheelbase platform provides two main benefits more rear-seat room and better handling,The extra length makes for big backseat space.

As engines were a 2.4-liter four-cylinder (172 hp), a 3.5-liter V6 (203 hp), and a 3.9-liter V6 (243 hp) available. The G6 is powered by GMS 3.5-liter V6, good for 200 horsepower For model year 2006, the previous 3.5-liter engine was replaced by a redesign of the same size, which made 225 hp. From 2007, a derived from the 3.9-liter 3.6-liter V6 was available. The shift takes place either via a 4-speed automatic transmission, a 6-speed automatic with autostick function (manual gearshift mode) or a manual 6-speed gearshift. The vehicle was built in Lake Orion , Michigan ( USA ).

The G6 was available in the equipment versions Basis , GT and GTP .

From the 2008 model year, the GTP line was replaced by the GXP version, which was equipped with a 188 kW (255 hp) 3.6-liter V6, a six-speed automatic transmission (Hydra-Matic 6T70) and a modified front grille. The price list began in 2008 at $ 19,415 for the sedan, $ 23,750 for the coupe and $ 30,860 for the convertible (net prices).

Trim Levels and Options:
The four-door 66 comes in two trim levels, base and GT. Generous standard equipment on the base model includes air conditioning;cruise control;
power windows, locks and mirrors; keyless entry; a 60/40 split-folding rear seat; a CD player, and a tilt/telescoping steering wheel.

The GT adds power-adjustable pedals, an eight-speaker Monmn sound system, a rear spoiler, alloy wheels and a sport suspension.
Options:
XM Satellite , chrome alloy wheels, Two power sunroof panoramic roof with four glass panels that fold accordion-style and an electric sunshade, The G6 features standard four-wheel disc brakes. Antilock brakes and traction control are standard on the CT, and optional on the base car. Side curtain airbags are optional on the first cars.
