The Oldsmobile Intrigue was a mid-size model of the US subsidiary of General Motors, which was manufactured from summer 1997 to late 2002 and was intended only for the North American market.

His design moves are from the 1995 Oldsmobile study Antares. Furthermore, similar design trains were also found in the Oldsmobile Alero (in Europe Chevrolet Alero) and the Oldsmobile Aurora.

Oldsmobile wanted to compete with this model stronger against its Japanese competitors such as Toyota Camry, Honda Accord or Nissan Altima. On the basis of the intrigue also other GM types were made such as the Buick Century, Buick Regal, Chevrolet Impala, Chevrolet Monte Carlo and the Pontiac Grand Prix.

From summer 1997 to autumn 1999, a 3.8-liter V6 engine (internal name OHV L36) was integrated, which made 195 hp. This unit was available in various GM models such. In the Holden Commodore or the Pontiac Firebird.

There were three versions for the Oldsmobile Intrigue: All came with front buckets and console, all-disc antilock brakes, traction control, and 16-inch wheels and tires.

GLS adds: 3.5-liter dohc V-6 engine, full traction control, leather upholstery, power passenger seat, Bose AM/FM/cassette/CD player w/automatic tone control and eight speakers, steering-wheel radio controls, automatic day/night rearview mirror.

From the end of 1999 to the end of 2002, a newly developed Cadillac 3.5 l V6 engine was used (internal name DOHC LX5). This was based on the GM NorthStar V8 and made 215 hp and was also used in the Oldsmobile Aurora for 2000 was an antiskid Precision Control System option.
